Rockwall,
TX
Founded 1854, became seat of Rockwall County (the smallest
county in Texas) in 1874. Named for subterranean rock
formation that has been the subject of study for years.
Although there has been speculation the wall was built
by prehistoric man, geologists believe the phenomenon
is a finger of the Balcones Fault with the "wall"
formed when geologic stress split the formation. A scenic
golf course is near Lake Ray Hubbard.
